All the nomenclature cards that Dr. Montessori designed during her lifetime were based on card stock measuring 14 cm by 14 cm, according to the European countries where she spent long spans of time, such as Italy, Holland, Spain and on to India, all countries, except the United Kingdom, where the metric system dominated. However, the square cards in 14 centimeters happened to be easily adopted in countries like England and the United States because, as it turned out, 14 × 14 is exactly 5.5 × 5.5 inches. Therefore, the metal inset square paper became the standard size for making all sorts of nomenclature materials.

Form F-704 comes in 5.5 × 5.5 inches and at the base it has a shaded line where the student can write the name of the picture he or she has traced on the Light Box.
